The Island of Menorca

Cala'en Porter which is 10 minutes walk from the villa has a great beach as well as many bars, restaurants and shops.  The caves of Xsioro are situated at the far end of Cala'en Porter, open daily for spectacular views out to sea. Drinks and snacks are available, by night the caves are transformed into a disco.

There are spectacular views overlooking the beach at  Cala'en Porter.
Cala'en Porter is 4 miles from Sant Climent the nearest small town.
Alaior is approx 6 miles and Mahon 7 miles.


A Menorcan cottage

Menorca is the second largest and the least developed island of the Balearic Islands. While there is low-rise development along the coast, it is still largely rural inland.   The coast has many sandy beaches making Menorca ideal for family holidays.


Mahon harbour
The island capital Mahon or Maķ is a pretty, small town with a bustling  port which has the second largest natural harbour in the world.
Explore the tiny squares and lanes with shops and cafes, look at the view across the harbour


Fornells harbour side
Fornells is an attractive fishing village on the entrance to a large lagoon.  There are many fish restaurants along the harbourside of this quiet village.


Ciutadella harbour

The town of Ciutadella, at the west of the island is high above the harbour.  It was  the capital of the island until 1722 when the British changed  to Mahon.

Arenal Descastelle - sandy beach with cliff edged cove

Arenal D'en Castelle has a wide sandy beach encircled by a cliff edged cove.  It is between Cap de Favārita and Fornells.

Monte Toro or El Toro is the highest point on the island, this building on the top is a convent.  There is also a cafe with a terrace which has wonderful views of the island

 


Golf

There is a 9 hole golf course at  Son Parc. Facilities include driving range, bar and restaurant. This is currently being extended to 18 holes.

 


Car Hire

You will have much greater freedom  to see the island if you hire a car.  There are many car hire companies, we use Auto Amigos who offer a 10%  discount for Internet bookings.
